FUTSAL League Rules and Format - Updated!

FUTSAL RULES  *Updated

 The Playing Court
1. Dimensions: 45m long x 25m wide (approx.)
2. Surface of the court: smooth.flat and nonabrasive
3. Field Markings: 8cm wide touchline at the sides
4. Penalty Mark: 6m from the midpoint of the goal line

The Ball
1. Size #4, age appropriate futsal or regular ball; low-bounce.
2. Material: natural (leather) or synthetic

Number of players
1. Minimum Number of players to Start Match: 5, one of whom shall be a goalkeeper.
2. Minimum Number of players to Complete Match: 2.
3. Maximum Number of Substitutes: 7.
4. Subtitution Limit: None.
5. Substitution Method: "Flying" substitutions.
6. All players but the goalkeeper enter and leave as they please.
7. Goalkeeper Substitution can only be made when the ball is out of play and with Referee’s consent.

Usual Equipment;
1.Numbered shirt, shorts, socks, shinguards, and footwear with flat rubber soles.

Referee
1. Duties: Enforce the laws, apply the advantage rule.
2. Stop game for injuries.
3. Signal for game to start, restart, and end.
4. Refereee Positioning: Opposite to the team benches.
5. Main Referee: Can overrule Assistant Referee’s
6. Required Officials: Main Referee, Time keeper.

Duration of the Game
1. Two equal periods of 25 minutes each.
2. Clock does not stop when ball is out of play.
3. Time can be prolonged only to take a penalty kick.
4. Time-Outs: There are no time-outs.
5. Half Time: 5 minutes maximum.

Ball In/Out of Play
1. Touchline: Kick-Ins to put the ball back in play; ball must touch a second player before the kicker can play the ball a second time. Taken from the touchline. Kick-Ins must be taken within 4 seconds or Kick-In is awarded to opposition. Cannot score directly from a Kick-In.
2. Endling: Goalkeeper will throw the ball (no goal kicks) from inside the penalty area to put the ball back in play; ball is not in play until it leaves the penalty area.


Rules of expulsion;
1. Red Card (charging an opponent in a violet or dangerous manner).
2. Two yellow card for the team results in playing down a player for 2 minutes.

Accumulated Fouls
1. After a team that accumulates 5 fouls during a game, upon the 6th foul they shall not be allowed a defensive wall.
2. All subsequent free kicks shall be direct.

Free Kicks and Penalty Kicks
1. Types: Direct and Indirect.

2. Defensive wall must be at least 5m away until ball is in play.
3. Kicks must be taken within 4 seconds.1. Two equal periods of 25 minutes each.
4. Penalty Kicks: taken from the penalty mark on the mid-point of the 6m line; kicker must aim at goal with intention of scoring; all players must be outside penalty area - opposition must be at least 5m away.


LEAGUE FORMAT

1. Each team plays 8 games; teams may play 2 games on the same day.
2. Teams earn 2 points per win, 1 per tie, zero per loss.
3. In the event that teams are tied in the league, league position tie-breaker will be determined in the following order: Total Wins, Total Goal Differential, Total Goals Scored.
