SUMMER GOALS

Juggling –  5 times (feet only), picking the ball up with feet; work on alternating feet and keeping the ball below the knees

Passing -  20 yard strong, accurate passes with both feet (right and left). Can set up a goal (or gate) 20 yards from pass (with cones or anything marking) to practice.

Footskills –  continue to work on footskills, clean touches, increasing the speed, working on starting to raise head

Footwork set up 6 to 8 cones/markers about 1 large adult step apart.  Remember that body position for this is just as important as all of the other work. Starting/soccer position:

  • shoulder width stance, knees bent (back straight not hunched), on toes  forwards weave through cones (shuffle feet)
  • short quick steps
  • do not cross feet (make sure on toes, heels are not on ground), then come back through backwards – looking over alternating shoulders moving backwards
  • two feet hops through the cones – getting over the cones, jumping and landing on toes – not heels – jumps should not be heard – soft feet; jog back to the start
  • right foot hops through, getting over the cones, jumping and landing on toes; jog back to the start
  • left foot hops through, getting over the cones, jumping and landing on toes; jog back to the start
  • two feet hops through the cones with high knees – getting knees up to chest when jumping through; jog back to the start
  • running through the cones – moving feet quick – one foot between each cone
  • running through the cones – both feet must touch between each cone
