Memorial Service for Adam Seymour

We are sad to announce that Adam Seymour a former Premier Athletic Club player has passed away.

Adam was a member of the Premier AC 91 Blue and McLean Premier team and a recent graduate of Robinson High School before heading to Lynchburg College.  While training for the soccer team, it is believed that he may have collapsed during training on Thursday and was unable to recover.

Friends, family, and players are invited to attend a Memorial Service this coming Saturday at 11:00 am.  Location: King of Kings Lutheran Church, 4025 Kings Way, Fairfax, Va 22033 (near Fairfax County Parkway and Rte 50).

The family has asked that his friends and teammates write letters to him.  The letters will be put into a book for the family.  There will be a basket at the church to collect letters from those who participate.

There will be a reception after the service, location TBD.

The family would prefer that no flowers be sent.  They requested that any memorial donations be made to: Stroobants Cardiology Research Group, C/O Centra Foundation, 1920 Atherholt Road, Lynchburg, VA 24501.

Remembering Adam Seymour

"Adam Seymour was a kind, great player who never fell short of representing Premier AC with distinction.  He loved the game and competed for every ball.  Adam may have been one of the best defenders that came thru our PAC system.  He was fun to watch.

Adam and his teammates had this distinct character to come and shake my hand after training.  That meant more to me than anything in the world.  Adam would never allow me to carry any of our equipment to my car even if I said don’t worry about it.  This and many other wonderful moments we shared made Adam extra special to me.  I was even hoping he would write an Eulogy for me but God knows best.

Today I would like to celebrate his life by what he taught me...gratitude and a helping hand.  Adam will forever live in my thoughts through his words and deeds.

On behalf of the entire Premier AC family, our thoughts and prayers are with the Seymour family. Please accept our sincere condolences."

God gaveth! God taketh! Rest in peace, my son!!

Sully Hamid, Premier AC, President.

We are pleased to announced the appointment of Coach Darrel Marcelle as the New Director of Boys Program.  Coach Darrel Marcelle is not new to all those who have attended Premier AC Clinics and Camps in the past three years.  He is one of the stellar coaches hand-picked to lead the coaching staff at our prestigious overnight camp and clinics.  He is the Founder of Syte Soccer Coaching Organization in Maryland and he completed his USSF ’B’ license with an outstanding grade and has been invited to take the USSF ’A’ license in the summer of 2010.

Abdul Bilal Hamid Signs with DC United!

Congratulations!

Cheers! to all who helped him in PAC since age 6...

D.C. United’s newest player is Bill Hamid, an 18-year-old goalkeeper from Annandale, Va., who came through the club’s youth academy.  He is 6 feet 3 and 225 pounds.  He’ll wear No. 28.

A work permit issue prevented him from signing with Glasgow Celtic last year, and after weighing overseas options this summer, he signed a Generation Adidas deal with DCU last week.  He will not be eligible to play in MLS matches until next year but is available right away for CONCACAF Champions League games and potential friendlies.

DCU President Kevin Payne: "For our league to succeed, for D.C. United to succeed, for our country to succeed, it is imperative that we create a clear and understandable pathway from the youngest players up to the professional level. ... They have to be able to dream and they have to be able to see that dream fulfilled. For us, this is a very exciting day because this is really the first example of that dream being fulfilled in our market."

PREMIER AC's U12 GIRLS CHEER ON THE HOMELESS!

On the weekend of August 1, Street Soccer USA (SSUSA) hosted the annual US Cup in Washington, DC where teams representing 16 cities and grassroots & homeless organizations across the country competed for the US title.

SSUSA is a program that works with homeless youth and adults, building community, fostering a sense of belonging and accountabilty and setting goals for a better future all through the positive power of sports.

The Cup provides an opportunity for these individuals to come together in a positive team setting as they work towards a change in their lives. In addition, the best players and ambassadors that compete at the US Cup are selected to the US National Street Soccer Team and will compete in the Homeless World Cup, which this year will be held in Milan, Italy in September.

Players from PAC’s ’97 girls United and Fusion attended the games cheering on the teams as they laid it all on the line in the blistering heat! After a great weekend of soccer, the overall experience was awesome to see the comradery, competition and sportsmanship amongst the players. This beautiful game is not only a sport fostering competitive play, skill, teamwork and sportsmanship, but can and does truly change lives.

On June 13th, DC United hosted Premier AC night at their 2-1 win over the Chicago Fire. Prior to the match, the PAC players had the opportunity to show their support on the field prior to kick off. All had a great time as the United proved victorious at the final whistle.

Not only did the players have an opportunity to cheer on the men of DC, but the women as well as the Washington Freedom took on the Chicago Red Stars prior to the United’s match at RFK. A good battle between the teams left neither team victorious with a final result of 0-0.

Premier AC trained Erin Brady makes AA State High School Champion Soccer Team as a Freshman

On Friday February 27th, Erin Brady was selected to be a part of the defending AA State Champion Broad Run High School Varsity Soccer Team.  She beat out competing players from Division 1 teams using the skills and tactical knowledge she has learned in the PAC system.

Erin Brady has been a part of the PAC trained ASC Premier Gold since starting travel soccer in 2004.  Sully Hamid and Sheka Kamara, coaches for the team, have been preparing Erin for this step for the last 5 years.  The concentration of the coaches has never been on winning and division level but on teaching the technical skills and tactical knowledge needed to play anywhere.

"It is first and foremost in our proven PAC system to give the game to the players at an early age by teaching them the technical and tactical progression from cradle to grave. Erin exemplified that progression. We are looking forward to have her compete for a spot in the Regional and US National team in the not too distant future" remarked Coach Sully Hamid.

Congratulations Erin and good luck this season!

VYSA-USSF E Course a Success!

Premier AC hosted its very first coaching education course on Friday, February 6 - Sunday, February 8.  With some help from mother nature to provide outstanding weather, the VYSA-USSF E certification course was very successful.

This is one of many courses, certifications and licenses provided by the state and US Soccer to help with the education and development of coaches in our sport.  The course had 33 coaches in attendance, including 4 from PAC - coaches Amanda Bielski, Enrique Rios, Patti Paz and Jay Wright.  Congratulations to these coaches on your certification!

Premier AC would also like to thank all of the players that participated on Sunday to complete a fabulous weekend!
