General Dribbling and Turning
 
 
1) Dribble to space to create opportunities
 
2) Change direction (use "V" cuts when possible
 
3) Head up
 
 
4) Change Speeds 
 
 
5) Control ball with dominant and non-dominant foot.  Ball should not be more than 1-3 feet away
6) Use body to shield the ball
 
7) Use combinations (dribbling techniques turns and passes)
8) Anticipate / Anticipate / Anticipate 
 
 
Dribbling
 
Mathews Dribble (Nudge)
 
1)      Thrust one foot to the side of the ball
2)      Use the outside of the kicking foot to move the ball in the opposite direction
Scissors (step over non-kicking foot, nudge to opposite side)
Uses: Create Space, can use with combination pass, shot and dribble
1)      Place the kicking foot to side of the ball
2)      Take the non kicking foot over and around the ball
3)      Use the outside of the kicking foot to change direction
 
Ronaldo dribble
 
1)      Place on foot to side of the ball
2)      Touch the ball with the inside of the other foot and use the same foot to step over and around the ball. 
3)      Use the outside of the other foot to change direction
 
 
Inside - Outside Dribble
 
1) Place non-kicking foot behind and to side of the ball
2) Roll the sole of the kicking foot on then off the ball
3) Use outside foot to change direction of ball
Maradona Dribble - Can be used for Turns too
1) Place one foot to the side of the ball
2) Step off ball, turn and keep body between ball and defender
3) Move the ball with the sole of the opposite foot to accelerate away
 
Turning
 
Stop and Turn
 
1)      Close control of ball
 
2)      Sole of one foot to stop the ball then a step over the ball
3)      Bend knees and taking ball with outside of other foot and accelerate out of the turn
Pull Back and Turn
 
1)      Close control of ball
 
2)      Plant non kicking foot alongside the ball and with the sole of the other foot drag the ball across body to change direction
3)      Bend knees and accelerate out of turn
Cryuff Turn
 
1)      Place non kicking foot to the side and in front of the ball
2)      Place kicking foot to the side and in front of the ball
3)      Tap the ball with kicking foot behind standing leg
Step Over Turn
 
1)      Place non-kicking foot behind and to the side of the ball
2)      Take kicking foot over and around the ball
3)      Use the outside of the kicking foot to move the ball in the opposite direction
4)      Keep body in between ball and defender
** Very good technique when an offensive player has her back to the defensive player. Good for creating space. **
